Tremenza ia a combination of a nasal decongestant Pseudoephendrine and an antihistamine
Triprolidine. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine which act on aplha-adrenergic
receptors in the mucosa of the respiratory tract to produce vasoconstriction. It also
temporally reduces the swelling associated with inflammations of the mucous membranes lining
the nasal passages. It actions are apparently more specific for the blood vesseis of the
upper respiratory tract and less specific for the blood vesseis of the systemic circulation.
Triprolidine is an antihistamine which acts as antagonist of the H1-histhamine receptor in
the treatment allergy on effector cells.
Tremenza is well absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract following oral administration and used in patient with vasomotor rhinitis or serious atitis media with eustachian tube congestion.
Indicatons
Tremenza - is indicated for the relief of cold symptoms due to allergy on upper respiratory tract with needs nasal decongestant and antihistamine.
Contra Indications
- It should not be used for lower respiratory tract disease, including asthma.
- Hypersensitivity to this drug.
- In patient with symptoms of hypertension, glaucoma, diabetes, coronary artery and patients on monoamine oxidase inhibitor therapy.
Adverse Reactions
- Dryness of mouth, nose and throat.
- Sedation, dizziness, disturbed coordination, tremor, insomnia, hallucination, tinnitus.
- Antihistamine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, weakness, nausea, headache or nervousness in some patients.
Precautions
- It should be used with caution when driving a vehicle or operating machinery.
- the drug must be given as directed by the physician on pregnant women and nursing mothers, since the effect in infants have not been established.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
- It the symptoms do not improve or a high fever occurs within 2 days, consult to a physician.
- It is not recommended for children under 2 years old, unless on the physician advice.
- The treatment should be discontinued if insomnia, palpitation or dizziness occurs.
- Do not use this drug, if patients are taking allergen injections.
- Patients undergoing treatment with this drug should not take alcoholic drinks, sedatives and other drugs that cause drowsiness.
Drug Interactions
The concomitance administration with furazolidone and monoamine oxidase inhibitors may increase alphadrenergic effect of sympthomimetics, such as headache, hypersensitive crisis.
Dosages
- Adult : 1 tablets or 10 ml, 3 - 4 times daily.
- Children
6 - 12 years : 1/2 tablet or 5 ml, 3 - 4 times daily.
2 - 5 years : 2,5 ml, 3 - 4 times daily.

- Tablet : each tablet contains > Pseudoephendrine HCl 60 mg and Tripolidine HCl 2.5 mg
- Syrup : each syrup contains > Pseudoephendrine HCl 30 mg and Tripolidine HCl 1.25 mg
